The Ubayan area provides you with landscapes and thrills : you will definitely come back and peform rafting! We adjust our programs according to you, young and old alike, and to your level as well. In order to satisfy you the best, and so that anyone could find his proper pleasure, Apache Rafting offers evolutive runs.
We will give you the best advice according to your wishes. It is always better and safer to start with a raft run, especially in Spring sessions. Running whitewater should be considered as a very soft learning process : you will never dominate the river, but you two can still work together.
Rafting Ubaye courses and journeys
BABY RAFTING – from Jausiers to Barcelonnette or Le Rioclar
For children from 6/7 years old – duration = 1h30
This is a discovery run for little adventurers ! They discover a whole new world, alongside Jausiers or Barcelonnette, or Rioclar and its lake.
In the Ubaye area, the yougest children can discover their very first emotions on the water thanks to whitewater activities , in complete safety and serenity
RAFTING FOR TEENAGERS – from Les Thuiles to La Fresquière
For teenagers from 7 to 16 years old – duration = 1h30
This is a 1h30 run from La Condamine to Jausiers, or from Les Thuiles to La Fresquière. This is a perfect run to meet whitewater for the very first time and discover the river and its environment having fun.
These two runs are often called « the little Canada ». Kids will contemplate the beautiful and peaceful landscapes of the area : such a great moment of quiet to make all the kids feel secure.
FAMILY RAFTING AND ADULT DISCOVERY RAFTING – from Martinet to Lauzet
From 14 years old , for friends or family adventures – duration = 1h30
The run from Martinet to Lauzet is THE big reference in Ubaye rafting : 1H30 of pleasure spent to run the numerous rapids of this playful and thrilling section with a very colourful landscape.
This run is composed of 12 rapids of rank 4 (high level) : this is a real Raft Park into the wild. Your guide will make you discover the joy of a team work navigation, punctuated with jumps and river baths.
The Martinet and Lauzet runs can be performed during the spring, in May, in June and in July. This is the last run to complete the panel of the different ubayan runs. The capacity of the riverbed and the water flow of the Ubaye river strenghtens with the melting snow and during storms. You can see the level of the water increase with the unaided eye !
Thanks to the rising water, this is a classic familiy run during the summer. This run turns its rapids into huge waves. In these particular times, the river guide talks about « crossing ». Indeed, the navigation with big volumes of water is qualified as a performance of excellence.
Le Raft sport
From 16 years old and for the most experimented people
This run is the icing on the cake. The Ubaye river is well known thanks to its wild whitewater runs. If this is a good timing, Apache Rafting will lead you to the Bachelard or at the Ex « crossings » : and you'd better be trained !
Le raft expert / passer votre Bachelard
Duration = 2h
This torrent is very intense and demands technique. The intensity of the run is characterized with the concentration of lines and trajectories in the rapids.
Clients who get lucky to run this course are proper V.I.P.s. Indeed, runnig down the Bachelard can only be performed a few days of the year, between May and June. You should book your run as soon as possible !
THE SPORT RAFTING FOR THE MOST EXPERIENCED / THE « EX DU HAUT » / THE « EX DU BAS »
This is a typical run of the Ubaye river. Located between La Fresquière and Le Martinet, there is a steep slope and a 500m rapid without any stop.
According to the water level during the spring, this run shall not be performed, or exclusively by the most experienced kayakers.
On the other hand, when the water level lowers in July and August, this section becomes a real giant slalom on 7 kms of rank 4 to 5 (expert).
Every year, this is a new challenge for the guides to get used to such an intense performance again !
